Men’s Group Work
Men’s groups offer ways for men to enjoy safe and accountable contact with other men.
This often helps with young men who have had absent fathers, or a void of male role models in their life, but can be a support for men at any stage of life. It can provide a space for “elders” to find an identity and contribute when they don’t typically know how they can. It can also help middle-aged men to learn to mature.
Sometimes Men can get into bad habits in groups. Examples of this are bullying to secure pecking order, over the top banter to cover up, or as a way to express, a desire for contact with one another. This can be off putting for men who struggle to engage in this way, leaving them isolated and feeling like something is wrong with them. Men’s groups can often be good places to challenge and change this learnt behaviour in the company of Men committed to exploring.
Men often need guidance to help them grow into mature, reflective and accountable adult males.
Men’s groups aim to provide the right environment and conditions for this to process to be taken seriously for the benefit of our friendships, romantic relationships, families, workplaces, communities and societies.
