About Arran Knight
The value of emotional and mental health alongside our physical well being is now well established. Where once people wouldn’t openly talk about it they now do. Many see an important and vital connection. My counselling work - helping people maintain their emotional and mental health - is complimented by my work in Pilates / Yoga / Release work / calisthenics. You can find out more here.
I was first introduced to the concept of counselling by my psychotherapist step-mother.
I joined a Men’s group at her suggestion at the age of 19. Now in my 40’s, and after almost two decades of personal process work, I trained in counselling at the Psychosynthesis Trust in London. Since then I have been working both in private practice and with students at Ravensbourne University London.
Having remained a member of a Men’s group for some 20 years now I have developed an interest and a perspective on working with Men. This led me to train as a Men’s Group Work Facilitator with the Centre for Gender Psychology. Since then I have run groups for the inner city charity Body & Soul and set up, and continue to facilitate, a weekly Men’s Group for students at Ravensbourne University.
One of the subjects that often arise in Men’s groups is difficulty with romantic relationship. This led me to train as a couple’s counsellor with Complete Couples. I am further developing my skillset with Nick Duffel’s Creative Couple Work training. I am passionate about the use of our relationships as an engine for change if we can remain engaged and present. I believe there is a reciprocal relationship where Men’s group can be a training ground to help with our intimate relationships too.
